Elderflower Gin Cocktail

Happy hour is still happening from home in our sweatpants, so we’re turning lockdown lemons into lemonade with this light & lovely cocktail. Pair your favorite gin with fresh squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup and a splash of St. Germain, a floral Elderflower liqueur that brings this beverage to life!

Gin & I have had our ups and downs over the years, but after some time apart, this spirit has become a favorite once again. Gin’s complex flavor varies from brand to brand, but in most versions, you’ll find juniper berries and other natural botanicals. The herbaceous notes pair perfectly with elderflower, but if you’re not a fan, vodka will definitely work!

And for the lemony goodness…

Forget the store-bought lemonade. The next time you make a grocery run, grab a big bag of lemons! I like to zest and juice a few right away. You can freeze the zest (tastes great in pasta & pastries) and keep the juice airtight in the fridge for an easy lemon squeezie!

To balance out the tart with a little sweet, make a quick simple syrup by heating equal parts sugar and water, just until the sugar dissolves. You’ll be left with a silky sweet nectar that can stay refrigerated for about a month.

With some lemon juice and simple syrup on hand, you can fix yourself a quick glass of lemonade (boozy or not) anytime the mood strikes. Just top it off with some water (sparkling or still, flavored or OG) and you’ve got yourself a quick, refreshing beverage!

Cheers to drinking at home…for now.
