Turmeric Shrimp

We’re baaack…

It’s been quite a while since we’ve put anything out there. Somewhere in the midst of the insanity that was 2020, Craft Chew took an unplanned hiatus. Times were crazy, work was busy and our food baby, unfortunately, took a backseat to it all. But we’re here and we’re getting these Craft Chew juices flowing!

During our little hiatus, we made the switch to a mostly pescatarian & plant-based diet. In the midst of a global health pandemic, our diet was one thing we could actually control and it’s been a surprisingly easy transition! The last few months, we’ve been noshing on veggies and grains galore.

To keep things fresh and flavorful, we use lots of herbs and spices and this turmeric spice blend has been one of our favorites! It’s been our go-to when we want loads of earthy flavor. Aside from its amazing health benefits, turmeric adds an unmistakably vibrant color to whatever it’s added to.

This curry-inspired spice blend tastes great with rice and veggies, but we’ve loved using it on shrimp. Double or triple these dry spices and store in an airtight container for a quick flavor bomb you can sprinkle on so many things!

Cutting heavy meats out of our diet has made a big difference in the way we feel, inside and out. Do we have our cheat days? Of course! We can thank the return of Viva la Waffle for that! But overall, eating mostly plant-based and cutting way back on booze has had a big impact on how we feel overall. It may not be right for everyone, but we love going green!
